The Wonderful World Of Brenna

A couple of drawings for you, taking a break from the Florida blogs (oh, don't worry, I can milk that one for some time to come).

This first one, Brenna told me was a dragon. A happy one, no doubt.

And this one she told me was a penguin.

Indeed.
Here is a recent shot of Brenna getting comfortable on the couch in an unorthodox manner, pulling the couch cushions over her. She also likes to make a lane between the back of the couch and the cushions and wade along, singing a "swiming in the water" song that she made up.

And a final shot, a self portrait.
A few of Brenna's recent phrases:
"I'm gonna shut you down " - No clue where she got this one, it's funny until she starts being mean about it, then she spends some alone time in the corner.
"I'm gonna throw you in the tub like a hooligan" - Said to me when I was giving her a bath the other night.
There are numerous others, after Emily has read this, I'm sure she'll have some more to add. Funny child.

Back To The Ren Fair

Emily had the last week of the festival off to enjoy the goings on, so we headed out there today with the family to check it all out.

The first shot here pictures mama and cousin Rachel walking the grounds with Brenna, who was decked out in a neat outfit made by Emily. We discovered when we got there that her stroller had a flat tire, so she was carried or walked everywhere.

Here are a few shots of her listening to the harpist, whom she enjoyed last year as well.

And listening to the harpist still, with cousin Rachel, also looking lovely on this fine day.

And finally, for entertainment value, three years of posing with Dextre, and every year Brenna is not looking at the camera or looking terribly excited about the photo op.
Here's 2007:

Here's 2008:

More Florida Pictures

Be forewarned that I'm milking this trip for all it's worth. Here are a few more shots, some non-Brenna related (my apologies for the purists).

Here is a sunset shot from the beach.

A close up look at some shells on the beach. There weren't as many intact ones here as Emily and I found when we were on the other side of the state for our honeymoon, but still some good finds.

Some birds watching for fish in the water (I'm assuming).

And finally a Brenna shot. Enjoy! More to come.

At The Waterpark

Here are a few shots of us at the Aquarium in Tampa.

Brenna only went down this monster slide one time, it was a tad fast for her, among other things.

These other shots are of Daddy and Brenna playing on a pirate ship that had water cannons. My street clothes got soaked, but I dried quickly in the warm sun.

Back To The Beach

Here are a few more shots from one of our trips down to the beach. It was quite windy most of the week, and the water was a smidge cool, but the crowds were small, and it was sunny just about every day, so you can't ask for more.

Brenna was ready to go with her sand pail in tow.

Hanging out with Mama on the beach, while Grandpa H looks into the water.

Digging around in the sand.

A group shot taken by Grandma H.

And a shot of pasty Daddy holding Brenna.

Back From Florida

Come back often for more pictures from our recent trip to see Grandma and Grandpa H. We got back at a decent time today (Saturday), but with the three hour time change, we're all pretty wiped.

For now, here is shot of Brenna seeing the Gulf for the first time.

Time For Another One

As luck would have it, there's time for another Brenna blog, fancy the luck.

Tonight Brenna was coloring on a new pad that Emily bought her, and after taking this picture, she took the camera away from me and starting snapping like mad.

We thought it silly that all of her pictures would be of the couch, floor, ceiling, and various versions of this face shot, so we worked with her on pointing the camera away from her, and towards other people.

At first she couldn't get the hang of holding the camera up, so I laid on the floor and we worked on aiming the camera at the subject. We had a few near misses with me.

On this one she started to get the hang of it.

Next, we tried aiming the camera up, and at Emily. We told her to push the button when she saw Emily making a funny face in the screen. This is what we got for our trouble on that.

Granted, there were a lot of odd pictures in between, but finally at the end Brenna took the camera, aimed it at Emily and took this nice shot, all by herself.

Take A Pic

I'll be the first to admit that I don't own a crystal ball, and even if I did, reading it accurately would be sketchy at best. One thing is for certain, however, and that's the fact that this upcoming work week is going to be rough. The calm before the storm for me is about over, and leading into going to Florida the week after next to visit with my parents, I'll need to work as many hours this week as I can stand to leave that all of that behind and enjoy my time off.

Having said all of that, be advised that the Brenna posts will be few and far between over the next two weeks. For part of that time, I may not even have access to the internet. I'll be sure to post as many Florida related pictures as I can, upon our return.

In the meantime, I have one more offering to throw in the ring. These are shots of Brenna from a few days ago playing with her camera Click from the Diego show she's loves so much.

Bear with us, and please keep checking back, I'll post new pictures as time permits. And thanks again for supporting the sponsored links on the site, Brenna is very close to earning her first Google check thanks to you're making that effort!

Headcheck

I had the best of intentions today, to spend my time with Brenna in the most fulfilling way possible while Emily was off working. I thought we'd go swinging in the yard, play in her house, go down her slide (well her, not me, I tried it once and got stuck), and maybe do some cool things in her room.

Instead I got this:

Well, okay, perhaps I'm not telling the story of our day together in the proper order. Although this picture just screams America, doesn't it? Sitting on your butt in your underwear, leg propped on the arm of a couch, eating fast food and watching TV. Ah, such motivation! The American Way!
In reality, Brenna and I had a fun afternoon over at Grandma's, preparing a raised bed for some lasagna gardening (I'll try and explain that at a later time). We also enjoyed going through the nursery at Lowes, picking out plants for the aforementioned planter. Brenna enjoyed stomping through every puddle she could find, and also reveled in trying to run over other customers whilst pushing the cart.
The Arbys endulgence didn't happen until after we picked Emily up and got home. I learned an important lesson today as well that the portable DVD player is the great pacifer when travelling in the card with a 2 year old that doesn't want to be confined to a car seat. Yes, coming from someone with a college education, you would have thought I'd figured that out a looooong time ago. But again, my common sense can only be found sometimes only when using a microscope.

March

We're already a week into another month, the time, she is a flyin'. Work has been busy for me, and Emily is juggling multiple things as usual.

Brenna is being Brenna, talking a mile a minute, and trying to prove to us at every turn that she is indeed right about everything, and we in turn, are flaming idiots. But she is 2, after all, I should expect nothing less.

It's finally cooling off around here, after days of being around 90. We've had some nice clouds, but there's no rain to be seen, not good heading into three very dry months (but aren't they all).

Here's a picture of Brenna running around like a hooligan last Sunday when we hung out at the house while Emily was out at the Festival. Hard to believe it's about that time again already.
